Authors leveraging generative AI (GenAI) have become increasingly common in the past year, and publishers have taken a wide variety of stances in guidance or rejection of that usage. Questions are surfacing about the nuances of rules that publishers have established, and gaps in the enforceability of these rules compounds existing concerns.
